Making payments for products and services is a day-to-day part of a business. Most businesses will use company credit or debit cards to pay for these.
However, by default Odoo does not offer its users the ability to take card payments. Instead, users are required to leave the Odoo platform and navigate to a payment provider’s website in order to complete a transaction. Ultimately, this can be a time-consuming process.
We remedied this challenge by developing the Stripe MOTO Backend Payment module.
The Challenge
Our customer approached us with a challenge.
When taking card payments over the phone, they needed to execute 5 steps either in Odoo or with the card payment provider in order to complete the transaction. This was massively inefficient and only got more so when customers requested refunds.
The Solution
We built the Stripe MOTO Backend Payments module in order to allow users to take payments and issue refunds from within the Odoo application. The main purpose of this module is to allow payments to be taken and refunds to be issued quickly and easily. This module is designed specifically for MOTO (Mail Order/Telephone Order) payments.
Using the module removes the need for users to leave Odoo and navigate to the card provider’s portal or website to take a card payment. It also allows users to send customers notifications via email or SMS when a payment or refund has taken place.
How it Works
This module integrates Odoo with Stripe, allowing payment to be taken within Odoo – without the need to navigate to a separate payment website/portal. It has been specifically designed for businesses that take MOTO payments.
Additionally, the module allows you to make refund payments through Odoo. When a payment or refund has been completed an email and/or SMS confirmation can be sent to the payee to update them on the transaction.

Stripe primarily offers payment processing software and application programming interfaces for e-commerce websites and mobile applications.
